Personal Growth Through Twitter

I am fairly new to Twitter, but this semester I have been more proactive on social media platforms and have seen benefits. I am beginning to use Twitter for educational purposes, by following experts in the education field I am attaining knowledge from seeing different education ideas in my particular field of education. While being more proactive on Twitter,  I have seen educational experts give several ideas about education, specifically relating to technology and how to incorporate technology in a classroom setting. For example, google classroom is heavily used in classroom settings. Educational experts share their tips on how to use the website more effectively in your classroom. After reading several tips provided by experts I feel encouraged and inspired to incorporate and use these tips for future circumstances. Another, essential technology tool seen throughout twitter is Flipgrid. Educators are using Flipgrid to engage their students in a unique matter. For example, Flipgrid is often used by students to give written and video feedback. There are endless activities on Flipgrid to help engage students in a more creative manner. I am stoked to be able to incorporate technology and see how students can get creative. Furthermore, another useful resource on twitter for me was Edutopia. Edutopia shares insightful information about what works in education. Having access to all these tips motivates me that I will be able to make good use of all these resources and help children be more open-minded about certain things. In the future, I hope to be able to use these tools and ideas effectively to help students get the most out of their education experience.

Additionally, I have participated in a public Twitter chat that was open to the public over a specific hashtag. Participating in these Twitter chats helps educators and learners connect and discuss a specific topic, pertaining to education. Since I am not a professional educator, I more so discuss my views as a student and what I believe is essential in the educational world. The specific Twitter chat I joined talked about opinion-based questions such as "Do you feel the need to be in absolute control of most things in your school setting?". I responded by saying, "I don't think it's beneficial to be in full control. I think there should be rules and regulations to "control" students, but you should not take full control". It was interesting to see what experts thought about my response, and also see what experts said in response to that question. The experts gave really insightful information, which allowed me to attain knowledge of the specific question. It was really cool to participate in the Twitter chat with people all over the world. It was also very interesting to see what educational experts had to say about the specific topic. The educators in the chat had a good experience and gave good insightful information that helped attain knowledge.

All in all, being proactive on Twitter has helped me realize how useful technology can really be, specifically in a classroom setting. I am stoke to see how much more technology grows and develops. Technology and education go hand in hand and can help students excel and be better and more creative learners. I am excited to keep exploring and learn more about Twitter, and how it correlates to education.
